National Youth Event

July 24-28, 2008
University of Tennessee Knoxville,
Tennessee

The UCC National Youth Event, held every four years, provides an opportunity for over 3000 youth (ages 13 to 18) to gather for worship, workshops, faith, fun and fellowship. It is planned by the collaborative efforts of national staff and a National Youth Event Planning Committee comprised of a diverse group of UCC youth and young adults. The next NYE will be held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville from July 24 – 28, 2008. The registration cost for NYE is $345 per person, and includes accommodation and meals from Thursday night through Sunday night. Welcome Rev. Kelly Jean Burd Worship and Education Ministry Team of Local Church Ministries welcomes the Rev. Kelly Jean Burd to our staff. Kelly has received a special call to be the Event Coordinator of the National Youth Event 2008. She comes to us from Dover Congregational UCC in Westlake, Ohio, where she has served as full-time Associate Pastor for the past seven years. She will be working part-time as National Staff and part-time with youth in the local congregation. We really appreciate that Dover Congregational Church has agreed to changes in their staffing to support our work on NYE. The Rev. Burd first participated in the National Youth Event at age fifteen. After the event, she told her parents the NYE changed her life, and today credits the experience for her eventual call to ordained ministry. She is passionate about the National Youth Event and what it can do in the lives of youth and young adults. Kelly has a Bachelor in Education degree from Ohio University and a Master of Divinity from Yale University Divinity School. She will continue working with the NYE Coordinating Committee to develop plans already in progress for the 2008 National Youth Event, which will be held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, July 24 to July 28, 2008.
